About Dr. Smith, his family, and work...
David resides in the Mars Hill
community with his wife, Autumn, and a son, Grant. They
have four dogs: Joey, Sammy, Bella, and
Buddy. The family are members of GraceWay Church of the
Nazarene in Summit, MS.
His prior education includes
attendance at North Pike Elementary and Middle Schools through
the eighth grade, South Pike Junior High School for eighth and
ninth grades, and then tenth through twelfth grades & graduation
from Parklane Academy in 1986; then, Southwest Mississippi
Community College from 1986-1988; a bachelor of science degree
from the University of Mississippi in 1990 where he graduated
magna cum laude; a doctor of medicine degree in 1994 from the
University of Mississippi, and completion of internship and
residency in family medicine in 1997. He was board
certified in family medicine in 1997 and then recertified in
2004.
He has participated in numerous clinical
research studies at the clinic and is committed to helping
improve the health of southwest Mississippi. In
1997, he received the In-Training Exam Award of the American
Board of Family Practice for the highest score in 1996 on that
exam for the residency program. In 1996, he was the
recipient of the Glaxo-Wellcome/AMA Leadership Award for local
community service among 40 others chosen in the nation.
David is the founding family
physician of Pinnacle
Medical Clinic and has been practicing medicine in the
southwest MS area now for over 16 years. In 1995, a free
medical clinic operated for the next five years part-time in
downtown McComb until the current PMC building was completed in
2000.
In addition to these
responsibilities, he is the administrator for
GraceWay
Christian Academy in Summit, MS, since 2008; an author, and
writer;
and host of Healing Power
Live on WAQL 90.5 FM; & station manager for
WAQL 90.5 FM. He is on the
active medical staff at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia,
Mississippi, and was chief of staff for 2010-2011.
